Alcoa rolling produces 200 million aluminum recycling plants in Germany

American aluminum rolled product producer Novelis said on Monday that it is building a 200 million euro ($259 million) aluminum recycling plant in Germany. The aluminum recycling plant in Nachterstedt, Saxony-Anhalt, eastern Germany, is scheduled to be completed in 2014.

The factory will use 400,000 tons of aluminum ingots every year, including beverage cans, cables, wires, and industrial waste. Tadeu Nardocci, president of Nobelius Europe, said that 200 new jobs will be created at the same time. In the face of high electricity prices, the German aluminum industry has been struggling. The future of several factories is uncertain. However, aluminum recycling uses only about 5% of the energy, so high energy costs will have no impact on the company's plant in Germany.
