The steel mills in Tianjin are mainly steel-making and steel-rolling. The iron-making base is located in the south of Hebei Province, and is more than 500 kilometers away from Tianjin. Every year, it is necessary to transfer nearly one million tons of pig iron from the field for iron and steel making; and transfer a large number of billets for rolling stock, causing unreasonable conditions such as round-trip transportation and energy waste.
