Okra is also called tonifying grass, belonging to the Malvaceae family, an annual plant. Okra is mainly used for edible fruit, and it has the effect of strengthening the stomach and protecting the liver. Its flowers, seeds and roots can be used as medicines, which are effective against sores and sputum. In recent years, it has become very popular in Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, and has become a nutritious and healthy special dish with great development potential. Farmers should pay attention to the following problems when planting:
1. Choose the right variety. At present, many productions such as Wufu, Wujiao, Green Five Star, and Qingfu are used.
2, the site is reasonably densely planted. Okra is warm, heat-resistant, and not resistant to frost. It is dead when it meets frost, and it is not radiant. If it is planted too densely, it will grow poorly. It should be planted on a loose, fertile land with thick soil. Implementing autumn land preparation, deep ploughing and deep turning, applying 2000 kg of decomposed organic fertilizer per acre, evenly spreading, can increase the application of calcium and magnesium fertilizers. When the open field is cultivated in a ridge, a single-row hole planting of 60 cm width is used, the hole distance is 15 cm, and the depth of each hole is 2 to 3 cm, and each hole has 3 to 4 grains.
3, suitable time for seedlings. In the case of a true leaf in the open field, the seedlings are once in a row, and the seedlings are fixed in 3 to 4 true leaves, and one seedling is left in each hole.
4, timely fertilization and watering. Okra is well developed and has strong absorption capacity. When the plant height is 40 to 50 cm, the ring plant should be applied with 1 time fertilizer, combined with cultivating soil. After harvesting the first to second fruits, 10 kg of urea per acre is recovered. In the late growth stage, in order to prevent premature aging, a 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution can be sprayed on the foliar surface, sprayed once every 5 to 7 days, and sprayed 2 to 3 times. Okra is more drought-tolerant, can be watered less during the seedling period, and is suitable for cultivating seedlings before flowering to promote root extension. Summer is the harvest period of the okra, pay attention to keep the kneading surface moist, usually 1 to 10 days of pouring water. Water should be watered before 9 am or after sunset in the afternoon to avoid watering roots at high temperatures. Pay attention to drainage during the rainy season to prevent dead seedlings.
5. Reasonably adjust the plants. In order to prevent the plants from falling down before the closure, it is necessary to use bamboo rafts or branches of about 1 meter in the vicinity of the plants. Okra is mainly based on the results of the main vine, and the side branches should be removed in time to reduce nutrient loss. After the fruit is collected, the old leaves of the base are properly removed to facilitate ventilation and reduce disease.
6. Harvest and store in time. Premature harvesting affects production; too late, increased fiber, aged meat, reduced quality, and loss of food value. Generally 7 to 8 days after the flower thank you. When the tender fruit grows to 8-10 cm, it can be harvested to obtain the best commercial fruit. Use scissors to cut when harvesting, do not rub it with your hands, otherwise it will damage the plants. In order not to affect the yield, the pods in the lower part of the plant should be selected. Okra can only be stored for 2 to 3 days at room temperature. The hot summer temperature is high, the water evaporates quickly, and the fruit surface is susceptible to aging. Short-term storage should be sent to a cold storage or refrigerator at 0 to 5 °C within 2 hours after harvest, so that it can be stored for 7 days.
