Scientists add new coating on perovskite

Scientists at the Swiss Polytechnic Institute of Lausanne (EPFL), in cooperation with the Institute of Molecular Science and Technology in Milan and the Qatar Institute of Environment and Energy, have developed a perovskite material that can be used as a common lead-based perovskite solar cell The surface layer can improve the stability and humidity resistance of solar cells.

In the research report published in "Nano Express"-"Waterproof low-dimensional perovskite, used for 20% high-efficiency solar cell interface coating", the research team described this stability improvement and conversion efficiency reached 20% The product.

This coating is a fluorine organic cation, which is used as an organic spacer to form a low-dimensional perovskite with enhanced water resistance. The researchers tested this coating in combination with two perovskites, and each gathered on top of the bulk absorbent layer. Batteries with this coating show better stability, especially in the first hour of testing under normal environmental conditions. The researchers pointed out that a tandem cell using a perovskite layer can benefit from this waterproof layer, and it can also be used in applications other than photovoltaics.
