Brief Analysis on Several Important Considerations of Rubber Cables

The wire and cable industry is China's second-largest industrial sector, following the automotive industry. It boasts product variety satisfaction rates and domestic market share that exceed 90%. Globally, China has surpassed the United States in total output value of wire and cable, becoming the world's leading producer in this field. With the rapid development of China’s wire and cable industry, the number of newly established companies has consistently increased, and the overall technological level of the industry has significantly improved. China’s sustained and fast economic growth has created a massive market for cable products. The strong appeal of the Chinese market has drawn global attention. Within a short period of reform and opening up, China’s cable manufacturing industry has developed enormous production capacity, impressing the international community. As China continues to expand its power industry, data communication sector, urban rail transit, automobile industry, and shipbuilding industry, the demand for wire and cable will also grow rapidly. This indicates that the wire and cable industry has tremendous potential for future development. Rubber-sheathed cables are widely used in various electrical equipment, such as mobile power cords for household appliances, electrical machinery, and electrical devices. They can be used both indoors and outdoors. Based on the mechanical force they are subjected to, these cables are categorized into three types: light, medium, and heavy. Additionally, there is proper convergence in the cross-sectional design. Light rubber-sheathed cables are typically used in daily-use electrical appliances and small devices, requiring flexibility, lightweight, and excellent bending performance. Medium rubber cables are commonly used in agricultural electrification, in addition to industrial applications. Heavy-duty cables are employed in demanding environments such as port machinery, searchlights, and large-scale hydraulic irrigation and drainage systems. These cables are known for their versatility, comprehensive specifications, and stable performance. Precautions: 1. Equipment: Use a compact pressure device with automatic temperature control, timing function, and multi-size tubular cavities. 2. Rubber: Ensure the rubber matches the wire being used, with more adhesive content than the material being filled. The vulcanization system should be slightly stronger. 3. Operating Method: - Set the temperature and time according to the vulcanization system of the rubber material. - Use a rubber ink thinner to clean the repaired area, especially the joint. - Cut the appropriate amount of repair rubber based on the gap size, ensuring it is neither too much nor too little. - Place the cut rubber into the gap, making sure it does not exceed the circumferential surface of the wire. - Wrap the area with high-temperature PP tape and insert it into a slightly smaller tubular mold cavity than the wire diameter. Secure the upper and lower molds to apply pressure. Note that the cavity diameter should be 0.1–0.2mm smaller than the wire diameter. - Once the vulcanization time is reached, remove the product. If there is any excess rubber, carefully trim it with a sharp blade and dilute with a suitable solvent. 4. Verification Method: Inject an appropriate amount of air into the filled cable and submerge it in water to check for leaks.
