In recent months, concerns over the quality and safety of fire-retardant paint products have risen significantly, prompting strong public reactions. To address these issues and combat the growing problem of counterfeit and substandard materials, the Fire Assessment Center has intensified its efforts to ensure that fire protection coating manufacturers adhere strictly to national standards and produce safe, reliable products.
As part of a nationwide initiative, the assessment center launched a surprise inspection campaign in early March 2014. This action was divided into two distinct phases, aiming to thoroughly evaluate the production and certification processes across various regions.
During the first phase, which ran from early March to the end of March, over 80 inspectors were deployed in 40 teams across key provinces such as Henan, Beijing, Guangdong, Shanghai, Tianjin, and Jiangsu. The focus was on companies in Zhejiang, where more than 270 certificates were reviewed, involving 158 manufacturing firms. These inspections aimed to identify any violations, ensure compliance with regulations, and strengthen the overall quality control system.
The second phase took place from late March to mid-April, expanding the scope to include the Northeast region and other provinces across China. This stage continued the effort to detect and penalize non-compliant producers, reinforcing the importance of adhering to safety protocols.
The primary goal of this special supervision campaign was to quickly clean up the market, reduce the prevalence of fake and low-quality products, and eliminate unscrupulous operators who jeopardize public safety. By doing so, the initiative also aimed to protect the interests of legitimate businesses and uphold the credibility and effectiveness of fire product certifications. This comprehensive approach not only strengthens consumer confidence but also ensures that fire protection coatings meet the necessary standards to safeguard lives and property.
