3D LED printer "implants" the display into contact lenses

According to foreign media reports, researchers at the University of Washington announced new technologies they are researching: contact lenses with built-in displays.

Currently, this contact lens is only in its embryonic stage and can only display single-pixel information. But researchers say the contact lens will display more data and information, including email, in the future. This contact lens is only 0.33 mm in diameter.

To make such tiny accessories, including the display screen, and to place all the components perfectly on tiny polymer materials, the researchers applied a 3D quantum cluster LED printer. This 3D printer can print interactive materials for different sets of layers, each with its own specific purpose. One of the special radioactive layer collection materials has nanocrystals of quantum particles and electronic materials. According to a study published in the International Journal of Micromechanics and Microengineering, quantum particles are distributed between a layer of electron-releasing film and a film that accepts electrons, which causes the quantum particles to release photons of specific wavelengths and colors.

When the quantum particles pass through the emission film, a colored display screen is produced, which can be seen by the naked eye. This contact lens collects energy through an embedded antenna, stores energy through an integrated circuit and transfers the energy to a chip containing a blue LED.

Finally, the $20,000 ($122,925) 3D printer prints and integrates all the components to produce true contact lenses through a UV-activated adhesive film. Although the high-tech used in this contact lens display sounds amazing, don't be too excited, because its cost is too high, mass production is not currently feasible.

In addition, researchers at the University of Washington are not the first to study smart contact lenses. Scientists at the University of Oxford are currently developing a nanopixel lens, while Amazon and Google have a project team that is developing consumer-compatible versions of smart glasses.

Wardmay PoE Switches are network switches or hubs that not only transmit network data, but also supply power to connecte devices. PoE stands for Power over Ethernet. Wardmay PoE Switches have kinds of output power and all switch conforms to IEEE802.3at POE Protocol. All in all, IP Cameras that are Power over Ethernet enabled can be connected to any of the PoE Network Switches listed below to power the cameras and transmit Ethernet data over a single CAT5e or CAT6 network cable. This allows easy integration of surveillance network cameras to a existing network and connection to a NVR recorder.
