According to foreign media reports, scientists from the Southern University of Denmark have developed a new type of material that has the ability to absorb, store, and release large quantities of oxygen. Researchers have not yet found out whether materials have side effects on humans.
The most important component of new materials is cobalt, which can determine the rate at which oxygen is absorbed, depending on the effects of different oxygen concentrations, ambient temperatures, atmospheric pressure, and other factors. In addition, the material can also accelerate the reaction rate of synthetic oxygen substances, and even generate oxygen directly from the water.
At the same volume, the material can also store three times more oxygen than commonly used underwater oxygen cylinders. Scientists say that if this material is made into a multi-layered mask, it can provide one person with the same oxygen as the ambient air without any other equipment. The short-term underwater breathing is no longer a dream.
