In the second quarter of 2013, the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) conducted a national supervision and spot check on the quality of grinding machines. The inspection targeted 30 batches of products from 30 companies across eight provinces and municipalities, including Beijing, Tianjin, Jilin, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hubei, and Shaanxi. The evaluation was based on multiple national standards, such as GB 15760-2004, GB 5226.1-2008, GB 24384-2009, GB 24385-2009, and JB 4029-2000, covering critical safety and performance aspects.
A total of 25 key items were tested, including entanglement risks, extrusion and shearing hazards, limit devices, anti-loose mechanisms, interlocking systems, clamping devices, protective cover thickness, opening angles, starting and stopping functions, emergency stop features, splash protection, power switches, protection coupling circuits, insulation resistance, pressure tests, overcurrent protection, motor overheating safeguards, electric shock prevention, hydraulic system performance, temperature and thermal rise, leakage, accuracy, noise levels, and motion testing.
The results revealed that four batches of grinding machines failed to meet the required safety and quality standards. The non-conformities were primarily related to the power switch, electric shock protection, emergency stop function, and the strength of the protection coupling circuit. In response, AQSIQ has instructed relevant provincial and municipal quality and technical supervision authorities to take necessary actions against the non-compliant products and their manufacturers in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
This spot check highlights the importance of adhering to strict safety standards in the manufacturing of industrial equipment. Consumers and industry professionals are advised to remain vigilant and ensure that the products they use meet all required safety specifications. The full list of affected products and companies is expected to be published soon for transparency and further action.
