With the rapid development of the machinery industry, the application of spherical bearings has become increasingly widespread. Among these, yaw bearings are a new type of spherical bearing support developed by our company. These bearings require zero or negative clearance, and they have strict requirements for rotational damping torque and high precision. Additionally, anti-corrosion treatment is necessary on the bearing surface depending on the main equipment's application needs. Addressing these challenges is crucial in the production process. 1. **Anti-Corrosion Treatment of External Surfaces** To meet the anti-corrosion demands of yaw bearings, we employ arc spraying technology with long-term corrosion resistance. This method uses specialized arc spraying equipment to melt, atomize, and spray corrosion-resistant metals such as pure aluminum or zinc onto the workpiece surface. A highly permeable corrosion-resistant coating is then applied over the arc-sprayed layer, forming a durable composite anti-corrosion coating. The key advantages include a long service life (up to 20 years), strong adhesion, and excellent coating quality. The process includes: - Preparation of semi-finished inner and outer rings of the bearing - Cleaning with organic solvents to remove oils from machined surfaces - Pre-protection of non-sprayed areas using special tools - Sandblasting to roughen the surface and enhance adhesion - Arc spraying with precise control of parameters like voltage, current, and air pressure - Sealing treatment to fill pores in the coating After the spraying process, the yaw bearing features a gear-like appearance, threaded parts, and an arc-shaped raceway. The first two are coated with rust-preventive oil, while the latter is lubricated during installation. The product is then packaged with plastic film and protected with a plastic braid to prevent rust. 2. **Damping Torque** The damping torque in a yaw bearing comes from two sources: friction in the raceway and resistance between the seal and the sealing surface. While the latter remains relatively constant under similar conditions, the former significantly influences the overall damping torque. The size of the bearing gap directly affects the resistance. Since yaw bearings require zero or negative clearance, the collision damping torque is determined by the clearance value, which is primarily influenced by the precision of the raceway before quenching. Four key steps ensure proper quenching: - Precision turning of the raceway surface using a high-precision CNC lathe - Induction hardening with German Peddinghaus equipment to achieve even hardness - High-precision grinding of the raceway surface after quenching - Accurate processing of rolling elements, with steel balls manufactured to micron-level precision 3. **Role of Arc Spraying Anti-Corrosion Technology** Arc spraying provides a uniform coating that meets depth requirements, ensuring excellent anti-corrosion performance. After the yaw bearing is installed, it demonstrates no signs of corrosion, confirming the effectiveness of the treatment. This technology not only meets design specifications but also enhances the bearing’s durability and reliability. The successful development of yaw bearings has provided valuable experience in promoting technological innovation in domestic spherical supports and improving global competitiveness. It has led to significant economic and social benefits.
