**Step 1: Determine the correct installation direction and straight pipe requirements for the Annubar flowmeter.**
Before installing any insertion-type flowmeter such as Annubar, Poweriba, Deltaba, or Bitoba, it's essential to understand the proper orientation and the required straight pipe sections. The flowmeter must be installed in the direction of the fluid flow, and sufficient straight pipe length should be maintained upstream and downstream to ensure accurate measurements.
**Step 2: Drill holes in the pipeline.**
Drilling is a critical step in the installation process. It is important to note that if acetylene gas or other cutting methods are used, the maximum flow error after installation can reach up to 10%. Therefore, always use proper drilling techniques to avoid damage.
a. **Relieve pressure and drain the pipeline.**
Ensure the pipeline is depressurized and any accumulated liquid is drained before starting the drilling process.
b. **Choose the appropriate location for drilling.**
For vertical pipelines, you can drill at any position around the circumference. For horizontal pipelines, the drilling location depends on the type of fluid being measured:
- **Liquid measurement:** Drill at the bottom of the pipeline.
- **Gas measurement:** Drill at the top of the pipeline.
- **Steam measurement:** Drill at the bottom of the pipeline.
c. **Determine the size of the hole.**
Refer to the manufacturer’s guidelines to determine the correct hole size based on the flowmeter model.
d. **Remove burrs after drilling.**
After drilling, carefully remove any metal burrs from the hole to prevent damage to the flowmeter components.
e. **Drill a second hole if needed.**
If an opposite support is required, drill a second hole on the opposite side of the first one and remove any burrs.
**Step 3: Weld the welded joint to the pipeline.**
Once the holes are properly prepared, proceed with welding the flowmeter’s connection.
a. **Assemble the flowmeter to the factory-provided welded joints.**
Insert the flowmeter into the drilled holes and secure it with the provided welded joints.
b. **Align the flowmeter correctly.**
Position the flowmeter so that it is parallel to the pipeline. If using an integrated meter, align the transmitter accordingly.
c. **Perform spot welding.**
Fix the welded joint to the pipeline using spot welding. Then, remove the sensor (such as Annubar) from the joint.
d. **Protect the threaded parts during welding.**
To prevent damage to the threads, wrap the threaded portion with thick aluminum foil provided by the manufacturer or install a protective nut before welding. Ensure even welding to avoid deformation.
**Step 4: Install the insertion-type BA flowmeter.**
After the welded joint has cooled down, proceed with the final installation steps.
a. **Install the connector.**
Attach the connector to the pre-welded joint.
b. **Place the seal ring.**
Insert the first seal ring between the sealing compression ring and the pre-welded lock ring. Be careful not to damage the seal ring.
c. **Install additional seal rings.**
Repeat the process for the remaining two seal rings. Ensure the openings of each seal ring are staggered by 180 degrees for optimal sealing.
d. **Adjust the flowmeter direction.**
Point the arrow on the flowmeter head in the direction of the fluid flow. Hand-tighten the Pak-Lok compression nut and connecting body.
e. **Secure the nut properly.**
Use a wrench to evenly tighten the nut. Avoid over-tightening, as this may damage the mounting components. Proper tightening ensures a leak-free connection.
