Concrete phenomenon of stone lesions and identification treatment

Granite Silicon Spot:

These are agglomerated, point-like stains on the stone surface, often accompanied by brushing marks. They appear thick in color, bright, and cause water droplets to form and remain without spreading. This is due to oxidation of the water-repellent agent in concentrated areas of the stone. Silicone spots are highly water-resistant, making them more challenging to clean compared to other types of stains. To effectively remove them, apply KVD-05 and let it sit for 24 hours. The solution will penetrate the stone and break down the stain completely. If ventilation is good, you can also use heat along with moisture to accelerate the cleaning process.

Granite Water Spot:

Water spots on granite typically appear as cement-based contaminants that spread from cracks or joints across the stone surface. These stains are usually dull in appearance and become wetter when the weather changes. Water tends to pool on the stained areas, darkening the stone further. This happens because the stone wasn't properly protected, allowing cement minerals to dissolve and reach the surface, causing blackening. You can remove these stains by applying KVD-06 using a wet dressing method for at least 12 hours. For better results, leave it on longer if possible.

Stone Degreaser:

These stains are caused by mineral oil, animal fats, or vegetable oils that drip onto the stone surface, forming clusters or spots. The color appears darker than silicone spots, and the stains may feel greasy or stick to paper. KVD-08 is effective in removing these oil-based stains. If the stain is mixed with soot from vehicle exhaust, it can be treated similarly to a silicone spot, and a wet application method tends to work best.

Marble and Sandstone Water Spot / Yellow Stain:

This type of stain occurs on marble and sandstone slabs where cement material from the bottom of the stone spreads to the surface, creating water stains, black discoloration, and yellow alkali salt stains. These can be removed using the KVD-08 wet dressing method or a warm rubbing technique. Note: This method is not recommended for granite or ceramic tiles.

Granite Macula & Rust Stains:

These can be effectively removed using KVD-09.

Marble Yellow & Rust Stains:

To speed up the cleaning process, the heating and wet coating method with KVD-11 is recommended.

Marble is primarily composed of calcium carbonate, making it vulnerable to chemical reactions. As a result, rust removers for marble are generally milder and have some limitations. Marble has a higher density than granite, and after polishing, the cleaning agents may struggle to penetrate deeply into the stone, leading to slower results. Using a heating and wetting method helps open up the stone's pores, allowing the rust stains to loosen and react more effectively with the cleaner. This approach can significantly improve efficiency. Keep in mind that some marble surfaces might be affected by the cleaning agents, so it’s advisable to test first. After cleaning, polishing may be necessary to restore the stone’s original appearance.
