On the occasion of the sixth National Disaster Prevention and Reduction Day, Wenzhou City held a special ceremony in the morning to honor the 21 "Most Beautiful Firefighters" who were recently selected. Deputy leaders from the Wenzhou Municipal Committee, including Ma Xiaohui, Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee, Hu Jianjin, Standing Committee Member of the Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Publicity Department, and Huang Baokun, Director of the Public Security Bureau, attended the event and presented awards to the honorees.
As one of China's most economically developed cities, Wenzhou is home to numerous small and medium-sized enterprises, which contribute to a high number of fire hazards. In fact, the overall fire situation in Zhejiang Province is heavily influenced by conditions in Wenzhou. Since May 2009, the Wenzhou Public Security Fire Department has worked tirelessly to establish a new order for social fire safety, achieving the best record in recent years with the most stable fire conditions and the fewest fatalities. Their efforts have led to zero growth in major incidents, making significant contributions to public safety.
To recognize outstanding individuals in the firefighting community, the Wenzhou Municipal Party Committee Propaganda Department and the Municipal Public Security Fire Bureau jointly launched a campaign to select the "Most Beautiful Firefighters." The selection process involved personal applications, organizational recommendations, expert panel evaluations, and final decisions by the organizing committee. This year’s winners include both active-duty firefighters, professional rescuers who risk their lives in dangerous situations, as well as civilian employees, contract firefighters, and volunteers who demonstrate unwavering dedication and commitment to public welfare.
At the ceremony, Wu Xingrong, head of the Wenzhou Municipal Public Security Fire Bureau, delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of honoring these heroes and striving to build a firefighting team that earns the trust and respect of the people.
