On April 26, the Nanjing Science and Technology Commission and the Nanjing Intellectual Property Office jointly organized the 2013 Nanjing University Student Patent Achievement Exhibition, hosted by Ning University, which took place at the Nanjing Science Hall. Over 300 student inventions were displayed, showcasing the creativity and innovation of young minds. Among them, a unique device created by Zhu Yantao, a second-year undergraduate at Hohai University, caught the attention of many visitors. His "photoelectric water intake device" can extract drinking water from the air in just one hour, blending practicality with imagination.
Zhu Yantao, majoring in Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering, has always been passionate about problem-solving. During field trips for water research, he often encountered situations where clean water was scarce. Inspired by his teacher’s comment that “it would be great to have more water in the wild,†Zhu began thinking about ways to collect water from the air. After discussing with his professor, he developed the idea of using air intake technology. The device works by drawing in air through vents, vaporizing it, and then condensing it into liquid water through refrigeration. The purified water is then collected and filtered for direct consumption.
While the concept seems straightforward, the implementation proved challenging. The device needed to operate in remote areas without access to AC power, and the process of extracting water required rapid heating and condensation, which raised issues of energy efficiency and heat dissipation. To address this, Zhu opted for a more efficient compression refrigeration system and added a solar panel to power the unit. He also designed a simple cooling mechanism. However, funding was a big challenge. “The motor and battery were provided by the school, but there were no ready-made parts for the cooling system,†he explained. Determined, Zhu cut back on expenses, spending over 1,000 yuan on materials. Within a year, he successfully built a working prototype.
The compact machine features air vents on both sides, a visible solar panel, and a 300-watt battery, allowing it to function even at night. It is primarily powered by solar energy and can produce 300 milliliters of water in one hour at 30 degrees Celsius—ideal for field use. Despite its functionality, Zhu admits the design is still bulky and not very aesthetically pleasing. “I’m working on redesigning the appearance to make it smaller and more portable,†he said. Description
The multi-parameter controller produced by Daruifuno is a multifunctional device that supports the digital online connection of up to 8 sensors. Unlike single-parameter controllers that can only measure one parameter at a time, our multi-parameter controller provides comprehensive readings of various Water Quality Parameters, including pH, ORP, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, conductivity, COD, ammonia nitrogen, residual chlorine, suspended solids, etc.
The versatility of our Multi-parameter Controller doesn't end there. You have the flexibility to connect sensors with the same or different parameters, depending on your specific needs. This means you can tailor the controller to monitor the exact parameters that are critical to your application, ensuring that you have the most accurate and reliable data possible.
In addition to its versatility, Daruifuno's Multiparameter Controller is also equipped with advanced hardware features. The controller itself comes with a cleaning relay, ensuring that your sensors remain clean and free of debris. For those who require current or relay outputs, we offer an expansion module that provides 5 current and 5 relay outputs, making it easy to integrate the controller into your existing systems.
Communication and data transmission are also seamless with our Multiparameter Controller. The controller features an RS485 interface and supports the Modbus communication protocol, allowing for easy data transmission and integration with other systems. Whether you're monitoring water quality in a municipal water treatment plant or a research laboratory, our controller ensures that you have access to real-time data when you need it.
Powering our Multiparameter Controller is also convenient and flexible. The controller supports both AC 100-240V and DC 18-36V power supplies, making it compatible with a wide range of power sources. This ensures that you can use the controller in various environments and settings without worrying about power compatibility issues.
