A fire broke out a few days ago in a warehouse located in Xiaowuji Village, Shibalidian, Chaoyang District, Beijing. The site was just about 300 meters away from the Shuangxin Experimental Primary School, raising concerns among nearby residents. Upon receiving the alarm, the local police deployed 13 fire units and 54 fire trucks to the scene. Firefighters, equipped with oxygen masks and cylinders, quickly arrived at the burning warehouse to start firefighting operations. After intense efforts, the fire was finally brought under control by 11 p.m. that night.
The blaze spread over an area of approximately 500 square meters. During the rescue operation, firefighters managed to save 15 people from the fire, but tragically, 11 individuals lost their lives. Four others were injured and are currently receiving treatment in the hospital. According to an official post on the "Beijing Security" microblog, the police have already detained two property renters and are investigating the cause of the fire.
In recent years, countless firefighters have sacrificed their lives to protect people's lives and property, facing extreme dangers and life-threatening situations every day. While they bravely risk their lives for others, we must also ask: who protects the safety of these heroes? Their courage moves us deeply, but as labor protection advocates, we feel a strong sense of responsibility to ensure their safety on the job. It’s our duty to prioritize their well-being during all stages of work and production. Their safety is not just a concern — it's a fundamental right.
