Manz has significantly enhanced its PERC solar cell production technology, reinforcing its position as a leading provider of advanced photovoltaic solutions. With over 25 years of experience in the solar industry, the company has built strong relationships with major battery manufacturers worldwide. Manz’s professional process technology and equipment enable companies to efficiently upgrade their existing production lines to produce high-efficiency PERC solar cells.
CEO Dieter Manz stated, “Our deep expertise in the solar sector has made us a trusted partner for some of the world's largest manufacturers.†In response to the growing demand for cost-effective, high-performance solar cells, Manz introduced an industry-leading cSi solar cell production solution with a conversion efficiency of 20.5%. This innovation not only optimizes crystalline silicon solar cell production but also strengthens Manz’s reputation as a top-tier technology supplier.
At the SNEC PV POWER EXPO 2014 in Shanghai, Manz showcased its cutting-edge cSi production solutions, highlighting its commitment to driving industry progress. The company’s next-generation production process features the VCS 1200 Plasma-Assisted Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) system, which deposits an alumina passivation layer on the backside of solar cells. Combined with the LAS 2400 laser hole opening technology, this setup enables large-scale, high-efficiency production while minimizing costs.
The VCS 1200 system uses a vertical process technology that can handle up to 1,200 wafers per hour. Its advanced plasma and carrier system ensure even coating without any defects or gaps. Unlike other systems, it prevents edge deposits on the opposite side, ensuring superior uniformity and efficiency. Additionally, the system’s rapid cleaning concept minimizes downtime, making it ideal for both monocrystalline and polycrystalline applications.
Complementing the VCS 1200 is the LAS 2400 laser opening system, which offers a precise, high-output solution for backside electrode processing. This one-stop technology reduces costs and improves wafer handling, significantly lowering the fragmentation rate. With a throughput of 2,400 wafers per hour and an opening width of 30–100 μm, the LAS 2400 is perfect for upgrading existing production lines.
Manz also offers the IPSG CEI 4800 wet chemical processing tool, designed to remove heavily doped layers and phosphosilicate glass from silicon wafers. Featuring a soft sponge roller and low-pressure design, it ensures minimal breakage and optimal performance.
Dieter Manz emphasized, “China is the world’s largest solar producer and consumer market. We are proud to be part of its growth and innovation.†Since 2012, Manz has invested heavily in the Chinese market, establishing a 20,000-square-meter production base in Suzhou and employing nearly 900 people across Asia.
In the photovoltaics industry, Manz specializes in crystalline silicon solar cell production and thin-film module solutions. It provides metallization, laser processing, wet chemical treatment, vacuum coating, automation, and testing technologies, supporting customers in achieving higher efficiency and lower costs.
