Aluminum ceilings have become increasingly popular in construction projects due to their durability, aesthetic appeal, and cost-effectiveness. Unlike traditional integrated ceilings, aluminum ceilings are resistant to discoloration, fading, and rust, making them an ideal choice for high-moisture areas such as kitchens and bathrooms. They offer a modern look while maintaining long-term performance, and their price is significantly lower than that of other ceiling systems.
When it comes to the installation and acceptance of suspended ceiling projects, several key criteria must be followed to ensure quality and safety. These standards apply to various types of frameworks, including wooden, light steel, and aluminum alloy keels, as well as different cover panels like gypsum boards, plywood, glass, and PVC buckle boards.
The materials used in the ceiling project must match the design specifications in terms of type, size, and color. All keel structures should be securely fastened, and after installation, a thorough inspection and leveling process must be conducted to verify proper positioning. For wooden frames, the wood dimensions should meet the design requirements, with each piece being glued and nailed properly. The surface in contact with the cover panel should be planed to ensure a smooth finish.
Fire safety is also a crucial consideration, especially for wooden frame structures. Cover panels should be free from defects such as bubbles, peeling, cracks, missing corners, dirt, or pattern issues. Their surfaces must be smooth, edges neat, and colors consistent. Perforated plates should have evenly spaced holes, while plywood and fiberboard should not show signs of delamination, discoloration, or decay.
Nails used to fix materials like plywood or medium-density fiberboard should be spaced 80–100 mm apart, with a length of 25–35 mm. The nail caps should be slightly countersunk into the board by 0.5–1 mm, and any nail holes should be filled with oil-based putty for a smooth finish. When applying varnish to veneered surfaces, the grain and color of adjacent panels should be similar for a uniform appearance.
For coating or painting on the cover panels, joints should be sealed with white latex and smoothed with a fine cloth, ensuring that the overlap on both sides is at least 5 mm. Following these guidelines ensures a professional, durable, and visually appealing ceiling installation that meets industry standards and client expectations.
