In accordance with the "Notice on the Establishment and Revision of the National Project Standard for Construction in 2002" (Jianbiao [2002] No. 85) and the "Reconsideration of the Agreed Adjustment of the Content and Name of the Fire Protection Regulations" issued by the former Ministry of Construction (Building Standard Letter [2007] No. 58), the Fire Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security convened a review meeting for the national standard "Code for the Construction and Acceptance of Fire Shutters, Fire Doors, and Fire Windows" (Draft for Review) on January 14, 2009, in Beijing. A total of 22 experts from government agencies, research institutions, fire protection companies, and public security fire departments participated in the meeting. Representatives from the Department of Standardization of the Ministry of Construction and the Standards and Norms Department of the Fire Bureau attended and delivered speeches.
The meeting formed an expert review committee and reviewed the normative work report prepared by the drafting team. Delegates carefully examined the provisions of the standard and expressed their approval of the draft while offering constructive suggestions and recommendations. They emphasized that the preparation of the standard was in line with relevant national laws, regulations, and technical standards. The team had thoroughly summarized practical experiences gained from recent inspections of fire shutters, doors, and windows, and had taken into account the performance characteristics of different product types. This led to targeted measures aimed at improving acceptance procedures.
The content of the standard was deemed to be well-aligned with the actual needs of construction projects, and it was found to be consistent with existing national standards. It is considered advanced, scientific, economically viable, and easy to implement. Once implemented, the standard is expected to play a significant role in enhancing the quality of acceptance processes for fire shutters, doors, and windows, as well as in daily maintenance and management, ultimately contributing to improved fire safety in construction projects. The meeting encouraged the drafting team to take the participants' feedback seriously and continue refining the document to ensure its effectiveness and practicality.
